“Già nella notte densa […]” (In the dense night […]”)
These are the words that open the first duet between Otello and Desdemona in Verdi’s Otello.
The night is dense with memories, desires,
It is dense with sounds.
The night is a place of silence, but at the same time, a place of terrible loudness.
The notes gradually fill the space… a familiar tune appears… then all evaporates in darkness.

The piece is in memory of my aunt Marisa and to commemorate Verdi’s 100th anniversary of birth.
